In 2015, Giovanni Marcantoni, CEO of the for-profit sports league Volo City, posed a question, \u201cWhat if every child had access to free and safe play?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This idea inspired him to team up with Councilman Brandon Scott to form the Volo City Kids Foundation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their mission: to bring kids together regardless of barriers such as age, gender, or athletic ability to participate in youth sports programs to increase their activity level and improve their quality of life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councilman Scott had a major impact in removing financial barriers, as well — making the programs free for kids by allocating 30% of the fees paid by every adult player from their for-profit programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their 2-person team worked diligently to fund the non-profit, but the road wasn\u2019t easy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
